All I want to say is.....

So much is going on around me! Pandemic! Covid-19! Chaos! Sometimes I just want to scream and cry reading heart wrenching stories of people who are affected by the pandemic! Then I see my husband non-stop reading, watching, writing constantly day in and day out about the situation in our country and I just control my emotions so that I don't burden him with what's going on in my mind. I get worried for him as he is sad most of the days because someone lost their kid or a kid lost his entire family or the entire family succumbed to Covid-19 war! Everyday hundreds of such stories he reads and he has started to be disconnected with his own family because of this. I wonder is this how we all are going to be? When will we get to smile without fear of unknown? When will our kids get to go to the park or school and just be kids? When will my dog be able to go on his strolls without the fear of catching the virus while using the lifts? When will the social media again become the same superficial beautiful show-off stage?

I dread to open my phone as I know someone or other whom I know or in our building society is unwell because of Covid-19 virus and someone is battling for life and we are helpless to help them in anyway! I hate going to the balcony because all I hear is ambulance sirens one after another! Life as we know it has come to a stand still and mankind is in trouble just like those Hollywood movies. I wish some superhero would really come down and save the people of Earth and make it all normal like we knew it before the pandemic days!

First blog - All my problems and more!

I have never been chubby in my life (not boasting but yeah that's true😉). I was that skinny kid who was asked ‘do you get anything to eat at home?’ several number of times at school or social gatherings🙄. So when I became a mother of a healthy baby and still did not put on much of weight, I was proud of my genes and never looked at what was going inside my tummy🍩🥘🍲🍕🍬. But then one day, it all changed.

Say hellooo to my old friend gall stones 😋. I started getting extreme pain in my back just after two months of delivery and would cry out of pain, while my son cried to be fed, and my husband has a difficult time trying to manage us both. Soon I was hospitalized and ended up saying good bye to my sweet old darling Gallbladder!!!! I tried to keep a bland diet for a week post this operation as I was scared as hell that I might not be able to digest anything that’s rich in oil and fat (Let’s just say tasty food 😜)
So a week passed and I slowly started eating normal Indian food with good spice and ghee, did not fall sick…well well, tried some tasty sweets and still no problems. I was as good as a person with gallbladder when it came to digesting food. There was no end to my binge eating. I ate sweets after sweets, oily fatty foods, junk, you name it and I kept eating.  My sweet sweet lean genes that I inherited from my parents slowly gave up and my weight increased by 15Kgs.

I never realized my weight had increased beyond my control. One day I realized I had no clothes to wear (well don’t we all!) because even those huge clothes I bought to wear during my pregnancy were tight. This was a shocker but did I do anything about it???? A big NO! I sat and sulked and cried and watched Netflix and binge ate more!!! I felt depressed thinking I will never be how I was again and I had no control over my sugar addiction. I did try Sugar detox and GM diet, Keto and few other diets and got absolutely no results. Not sure how people succeed in those diets, because I failed miserably.
My husband decided it was time to take a break and go on vacation, which changed my life! I still couldn’t fit into so many of my dresses, but I had a great time with family and friends. I forgot about my sugar cravings, ate all I wanted, just had fun for 15days. OF course, with a toddler, your fun is limited. But it was a much-needed vacation and when I came back, I had a different perspective about life. I was no more sulking, depressed or fatigued.
I started organizing things at home, making a list of To-dos and trying as much to finish them on time, cook healthy meals for my family and not just order out. I’m losing weight and I will give you all the details in my next post. If you are struggling with something similar, comment below and let me know, I am not alone.

Lots of love,
Suni
