I have never been chubby in my life (not boasting but yeah that's true😉). I was that skinny kid
who was asked ‘do you get anything to eat at home?’ several number of times at
school or social gatherings🙄. So when I became a mother of a healthy baby and still did not put on
much of weight, I was proud of my genes and never looked at what was going
inside my tummy🍩🥘🍲🍕🍬. But then one day, it all changed.
Say hellooo to my old friend gall stones 😋. I started getting
extreme pain in my back just after two months of delivery and would cry out of
pain, while my son cried to be fed, and my husband has a difficult time trying
to manage us both. Soon I was hospitalized and ended up saying good bye to my
sweet old darling Gallbladder!!!! I tried to keep a bland diet for a week post
this operation as I was scared as hell that I might not be able to digest
anything that’s rich in oil and fat (Let’s just say tasty food 😜)
So a week passed and I slowly started eating normal Indian
food with good spice and ghee, did not fall sick…well well, tried some tasty
sweets and still no problems. I was as good as a person with gallbladder when
it came to digesting food. There was no end to my binge eating. I ate sweets
after sweets, oily fatty foods, junk, you name it and I kept eating. My sweet sweet lean genes that I inherited
from my parents slowly gave up and my weight increased by 15Kgs.
I never realized my weight had increased beyond my control.
One day I realized I had no clothes to wear (well don’t we all!) because even
those huge clothes I bought to wear during my pregnancy were tight. This was a
shocker but did I do anything about it???? A big NO! I sat and sulked and cried
and watched Netflix and binge ate more!!! I felt depressed thinking I will
never be how I was again and I had no control over my sugar addiction. I did
try Sugar detox and GM diet, Keto and few other diets and got absolutely no
results. Not sure how people succeed in those diets, because I failed miserably.
My husband decided it was time to take a break and go on
vacation, which changed my life! I still couldn’t fit into so many of my
dresses, but I had a great time with family and friends. I forgot about my
sugar cravings, ate all I wanted, just had fun for 15days. OF course, with a
toddler, your fun is limited. But it was a much-needed vacation and when I
came back, I had a different perspective about life. I was no more sulking,
depressed or fatigued.
I started organizing things at home, making a list of To-dos
and trying as much to finish them on time, cook healthy meals for my family and
not just order out. I’m losing weight and I will give you all the details in my
next post. If you are struggling with something similar, comment below and let
me know, I am not alone.
Lots of love,
Suni
